Briefly UT Martin men ready for Murray The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team will open the 2009 portion of its schedule in the friendly confines of the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center and Skyhawk Arena with three Ohio Valley Conference games this week. Up first for the Skyhawks will be archrival Murray State. Tipoff is set for 7:30 this evening with a women’s game preceding the men’s action at 5:30. Skyhawk assistant takes job at UTC
MARTIN — Marcus Satter-field, UT Martin’s associate head football coach, quarterbacks and receivers coach and passing game coordinator this past season, has been named the offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Satterfield accepted the job Wednesday night and will be introduced this afternoon at a press conference with the rest of Chattanooga head coach Russ Huesman’s new staff. “This is a win-win situation for me,” Satterfield said Thursday morning. “Coach Huesman and I worked together at Richmond and he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.” Read More ...
 
Skyhawk Hudson hits high mark in drubbing of Central Arkansas
CONWAY, Ark. — Last season, Lester Hudson totaled his second-lowest point output of the season, scoring just 13 points in a 78-75 defeat. On Wednesday, the senior guard from Memphis perhaps got his vengeance on the Bears, scoring a career-high 41 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, in an 84-65 Skyhawk victory at the Farris Center. Redemption was sweet for the Union City girls on Tuesday afternoon. Simply getting a win was satisfying for the Tornado boys. Less than 24 hours after the locals suffered a tough loss to undefeated Westview at the 44th annual Martin Lions Club Christmas Tournament, the Lady Twisters redeemed themselves with a convincing 59-36 triumph over Madison Academic. At the Murray Bank Holiday Classic, the Union City boys kept the Christmas season from being a total wash after two losses with a 79-38 rout of Joppa (Ill.) in the seventh-place game. Read More ...
